Windows 8 101: I want my Desktop!

Tired of being directed to the Start screen every time you sign in to your Windows 8? Well I might have a solution for you. If you are on Windows 8.1 you can bypass the start screen and sign in directly to the desktop.  Here’s how:

• On your desktop right click on your task bar (mouse) or do a long press in your taskbar to get the right click menu (touch)
• Select properties to launch the Taskbar and Navigation properties

• Click / select the \navigation tab and tick “Go to the desktop instead of Start when I sign in” check box

• Click on apply and you’re done! The next time you sign in to your Windows 8, the first thing you will encounter is your beloved desktop :)
