The Windows 8 lock screen is the first thing that you will encounter after turning on your PC. The lock screen will give you an idea or preview of what to expect inside Windows 8. It will display the current date, time, network connection status and battery status by default. If you customized your Windows 8 properly (your Microsoft account connected, emails, social networking accounts), the lock screen will give you a glance and go experience. Aside from the default details it may also display notification icons should you have missed an IM conversation, email, and a schedule from your calendar (beside the current time). Below is the default lock screen of Windows 8.
