MVPs + Acad Team @ STI College Global City

IMG_0007A number of Microsoft MVPs and MSPs was invited to talk about Microsoft technologies at the STI College-Global City ICT Roadshow 2011 on March 11, 2011.  I was lucky to be invited to tackle about Windows 7.  The ICT Roadshow was a weeklong celebration and a one whole day  was dedicated just for Microsoft technologies, hence they called it the “Microsoft Day.”

I arrived at the venue at exactly 9:00AM as the email from Miss Mellie Valimento says that I will be starting my lecture on that time.  Due to a scheduled fire drill as part of the school’s disaster preparedness program, my lecture was moved to 11:00AM.  Good thing there’s a near coffee shop where I had my breakfast and waited there until I can start my lecture.

I started my lecture at around 11:15AM after the formal opening of the weeklong ICT Roadshow.  My audience are mainly freshmen and sophomore IT and CS students with approximately 200 attendees.  Speakers in the morning sessions are mainly MSPs who talked about, Windows Phone, Windows Live, Microsoft Office 2010, with me as an exception discussing Windows 7.  The afternoon sessions was dominated by MVPs with more serious lectures on ASP.net, Visual Studio, and SQL Server.  Speakers on the event are:

@ University of Perpetual Help System-GMA Campus

IMG_0065I was invited as a speaker at the University of Perpetual Help – GMA Campus to talk on Windows 7 during their College of Computer Studies Week 2011on March 4, 2011. Two of my best pals in MS Pinoy (Microsoft Philippines Users Group) Erwin Magno and Jeffrey Lacatan were also invited to talk about Microsoft technologies. The co-organizer of the event, Joenel Arroyo is also an active member of MS Pinoy.
The three of us (Erwin, Jeffrey, and I) left the congested city of Manila at around 7:30AM in a bus heading south to General Mariano Alvarez (GMA), Cavite. Joenel sent us an SMS telling that we will be meeting him in a convenience store before proceeding inside the university.
The seminar started at around 9:30AM and ended with the awarding of certificates at around 1:00PM.  Approximately 150 IT and CS students attended the seminar.
Topics and speakers are:
  • Joenel Arroyo – Windows Internet Explorer 9
  • Eufer Pasion – Window 7 (Overview and Live Demo)
  • Erwin Magno – Microsoft Office 2010
  • Jeffrey Lacatan – Dreamspark

@ Mapua Institute of Technology

I had the privilege to be invited as a resource speaker for Windows 7 at the Mapua Institute of Technology in Intramuros, Manila.  The event was organized by Patrick Torres, an MSP (Microsoft Student Partner) and president of  Junior Philippine Computer Society Mapua Chapter.  The event was entitled “Dive Deep into your PC : Windows 7 & PC Security” held at the school’s seminar room on February 26, 2011.

I was lucky to have an audience of around 100-120 students from different year levels who are taking up mostly Computer Engineering and other engineering courses.  I was given an hour to discuss all about Windows 7, did some demos, tips and tricks and of course the most awaited portion in which I get to ask a question and anyone who can answer it will get a freebie.  Thanks to the DPE team from Microsoft Philippines for their unending support.
